Manufacturing Client
Background
Our client is involved in manufacturing and uses a significant number of barcodes in their manufacturing process. We were supplying the client with the required bar-codes that were bureau printed on blank labels as per orders from client.
The Challenge
The problem faced by the client was that they had to introduce sequential barcodes into their manufacturing process and as such the existing solution was no longer practical as the client needed more control when printing barcodes.
The Solution
We met with the client to discuss the best alternatives to the issues they were facing and it became clear that the client would have to be able to print their own barcodes as required. As such we agreed with the client on the following solution:
Faculty LP would supply the client with blank labels for overprinting barcodes
Purchase and install a desk top label printer
Install and setup barcode printing software
Provide training to create existing and new barcodes and to manage sequential numbering
The Outcome
By moving to the proposed solution, the customer is now able to print their own sequential barcodes, on demand as required and no longer runs the risk of either carrying too much stock of pre-printed barcodes or running out of pre-printed barcodes at critical times during the production process.
